Polyacrylic-Co-Maleic-Acid-Coated Magnetite Nanoparticles for Enhanced Removal of Heavy Metals from Aqueous Solutions

The physicochemical properties of ligand-coated nanoparticles make them superior adsorbents for heavy metals from water. In this study, we investigate the adsorption potential novel polyacrylic-co-maleic-acid-coated magnetite (PAM@MNP) to remove Pb2+ and Cu2+ an aqueous solution. We argue that modifying surface MNP with PAM enhances stability MNP, improving its ability metals. kinetics data show PAM@MNP attained sorption equilibrium after 60 min. are fitted accurately by pseudo-first-order kinetic model. calculated Langmuir capacities 518.68 mg g−1 179.81 Cu2+, respectively (2.50 mmol 2.82 respectively). results indicate is a very attractive adsorbent can be applied in water remediation technologies.
